Sailing is fun. It can be exciting or relaxing, competitive or leisurely. It can take you around the world. Sailing is a soothing experience that ties us to nature, to the water that is all around us.
Step aboard and expand your horizons.
The Sail Nauticus First Sail experience is an introduction to sailing in a casual setting. Up to three students and an instructor will learn how to harness the winds and steer the boat on a course. All students will receive online access to Chapter 1 of US Sailing's book on sailing after signing up. If you are wondering what it takes to sail and want to learn more, this is the course for you!
What You Learn
Your First Sail Experience will include water safety, parts of the boat, how to sail upwind and downwind, steering, tacking, and jibing. This experience is 95% on the water, so each student will spend time learning each of the three jobs aboard the boat:
- Trimming the mainsail
- Trimming the jib
- Steering with a tiller
