Your child can spend an exciting weekend aboard the Schooner Virginia as it embarks on a voyage to Yorktown, VA!

Learn the ropes and sail to historic Yorktown during this 2-1/2 day, co-ed sailing experience aboard the Schooner Virginia.

DAY 1 Friday, 1pm – Welcome aboard the Schooner Virginia (at the Nauticus pier).  Orientation- You will be introduced to the ship and learn the seamanship skills you’ll use while voyaging. We’ll have dinner aboard, more activities, then you’ll choose your berth for the night!

DAY 2 Saturday, 7am – After a hearty breakfast and some line handling instruction, you’ll help us cast-off for the day sail to Yorktown. Upon arrival at the pier in Yorktown the crew will cool off at Yorktown Beach and take-in the sites of historic Yorktown. Dinner will be served onboard then evening activities.

DAY 3 Sunday, 7am – Breakfast, then all crew will muster on deck and depart for Historic Yorktown. 11am you will cast-off lines for the return voyage to the Nauticus pier arriving at 5pm.

Sites you’ll visit may include: Yorktown Village, Waterman’s Museum, battlefields, Moore House (where the British Army surrendered), the American Revolution Museum.

FAQ

What will the berthing arrangements be?

All campers will be provided with a bunk and curtain for privacy.

Will my child have access to a bathroom/shower?

Yes. There are two heads (bathrooms) onboard, each with sinks, showers, and toilets. We carry 1000 gallons of fresh water onboard, so there is plenty for all cooking, drinking, and cleanliness needs.

Will meals be provided?

3 meals a day and snacks will provided, included in the cost.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Yes. We can accommodate all dietary restrictions.

How many chaperones will be on board?

The number of crew/chaperones on board will depend on the number of campers we take out. All crew will have undergone background screening and drug testing.

Will my child receive any sort of commemoration for camp?

Each camper will receive a tshirt and a certification of completion.
